INFJ here. But to be honest I could even believe myself to be highly emended ENFJ type 3 (airy chart with no planets in Fe signs). lol, or, boink boink, what about a highly emended ENFP?! (but I don’t think so)

All depends on the context.

You’re talking to a non-artsy INFJ, or at least one who used to be artistic but switched to the sciences early on in development. I do care about language though. Words and the way words are placed in paragraphs or within sentences have such powerful rhetorical impact. This is why I get really frustrated when writing something serious. All the ideas I have in my mind must be well-represented perfectly - I want the image and emotional highs/ups inscribed perfectly in the reader’s mind, and it should be so clear that it should cut the reader’s heart and mind like a well-sharpened stone. In both fictional and non-fictional writing. Well. Only if I care. I just free-write here.

Also, language is truth conveyed by the medium of words and grammar. Like mathematical equations in some sense with an added dimension of something, can’t really find the right word here.

Sometimes I just need to read one or two short informative pieces of writing for me to get the land-scape or “world” of that topic or field. Somehow I can fill in the blank for everything else but I don’t know that until someone starts questioning me verbally or I start writing. I have no idea, supernokturnal. I learn in a weird way, and I seem to absorb many facts like a sponge without me even being aware of it. Even a glance at a page and me feeling confused initially is deceiving; when the moment comes for me to talk about it, I realized I understood and remembered nearly everything from that confusing page of information.

Depends on the person and context. :stuck_out_tongue: I have a Libra sun, and have Mars and Mercury in close conjunct in Scorpio (9th house). Pluto in Scorpio in 9th as well. So if I really really believe in or care about something, I’ll burn that other person alive without realizing it. Often I feel as if I’m stating things plainly with the best and most clear word choices possible. But then the other person shrinks, especially INFPs and (DUH DUN!) ENFPs.

Yeah. And then when I see other Ni-users out there and see them thinking they’re better than everyone else, I go: How dare they? They don’t know anything…I’m better than them, too! Oh, the irony. Of course I am not better than others, realistically. I don’t think my IQ even surpasses 140, but I’ve never taken the test. Yet somehow, I disintegrate if I lose hold of this “vague sense of superiority.” I try to achieve a balance between belief and objective reality.

Very telling about how similar and predictable human beings can be. A very big epic greater than all the other fictional epics out there. But you’re talking to a scientist working on very small stuff, small systems. I can’t show the same level of appreciation as other INxJs here.

Well, I guess similar to the question above. I wouldn’t say “ancient” stuff here. But I respect the oldies and classics whenever it comes to anything. Classics stand the test of time. Age seems to make things more beautiful and valuable than anything. And all the stuff of older generations/ages than now seems to have life, energy, and risk - something that I almost never see in art these days.

Hahaha. Come on you know the answer. I’ll tell you my answer. One, big fat NO.

To be honest, a fair amount of times, but methinks much less than most others. And I catch subtleties faster/better than others, but it may come across as a vague whiff more than a coherent and well-refined idea.

I’ll be honest. Too much. Me being sexy is too important. I have a lot of jealousy and envy with regards to beauty and sex. My achilles’ heel. I had an eating disorder for 5 years. I’ll be honest, there are definitely guys out there who would consider me sexy for a short girl. It’s only around nowadays (early 20s). Back then, I didn’t give a fuck (when I was a child).

Brains or quirkiness, or both! Kindess and purity. For some reason a vast array of guys have been turning me on these days unlike my days of adolescence. I like being the prey more than the hunter but I also have dreams of ensnaring melancholic boys these days too.

I’m a bit practical. He has to stand like steel against my wild temperamental bouts. He has to have a better sense of domestic responsibilities than me. He needs to be intelligent. Creativity is also important.

I don’t like the dead-robot thing that sometimes goes on in INTPs or ISTJs. Makes me angry. The whole harping on God and religion also makes me roll my eyes. You don’t have to believe in God. It’s the whole sneering and condescension about it that grates on me. It’s a whole different kind of stupidity: The lack of pathos, sensitivity, and imagination. Lack of knowledge, I can tolerate a bit. I also respect sensors’ intelligence, but may not resonate with it often.

Depends on the person and the context. I don’t know that person, 1. I know that person somewhat and am confident in my intuition, 8-10. I am an extraverted feeler, in the end! But I don’t say compliments I don’t mean.

I respect them and disrespect them at the same time.

Can be many things:

  1. Disdain. It’s like my revenge against the whole world. It’s a very backwards thing, but by pretending to know nothing and withholding all my knowledge, the world may think I’m much less than what I am. And then I laugh a little inside by knowing that I had deceived them. That’s the top reason.
  2. Lack of confidence in myself.
  3. I have something to say, but I just don’t realize it, and the circumstances don’t give me confidence to start something extemporaneously.
  4. Sheer shyness. Want to say something in front of group of people I know, but I can’t.
  5. Not the right number of people. 1-to-1 is good. 5 people = too much. 100+ people = best. I shine on stage, even when speaking extemporaneously, more than in person.

:sob: @schlopadoo !

this time i did read your comment and i enjoyed them a lot.

i wish other people have chance to see too…

#4

Yeah, @schlopadoo. I actually skimmed your comment earlier and wanted to read it again more thoroughly, and now it’s gone. Poop!

#5

i wonder if you don’t even know your own value of your words.

it’s sad to see you keep deleting them.

it’s sad because you put so much effort answering them. and then it doesn’t get its chance to be seen by others.

who cares what anyone thinks?

it’s what YOU think that matters. you matter.

own what you say. at least let it play out and see where it goes.

what if Jesus had an ability to delete bible and his history permanently?
everyone would be like ‘…wait… wtf was i worshipping? who was i following?’

i’d rather you have the attitude of ‘of course i’m better than other’ + ‘so what i say matters’

#6

INXJ, on the scale from 1-10, how much do you worry about what you say will affect them emotionally? (1 being not at all, 10 being 100% certainly)

This depends entirely on the context. If I’m engaging in light banter or joking then I’m not looking for a strong emotional response other than amusement, so 2-4. But if I’m trying to reach someone at a deeper level, say consoling a friend who has suffered a loss, then it matters very much, all the way up to 10.

And it’s not so much “worry” as wanting my words to accurately convey my intent, and not be misunderstood or make a tense situation worse. I may not say anything at all if I doubt my ability to do this in any situation.

INXJ, there is something related to Ni and old language.
or just in literary art in general. why do you guys care so much about language?

Simple answer to a complex question: when we consider the past, art and language are all we have to understand the dead, how they thought, what mattered to them, how they saw the world, what we can learn from their struggles etc. And when we are gone, it is how future generations will remember us, should we be fortunate enough to leave anything of value to mark our passing (getting very poetical and INFJ-y here, sorry!)

INXJ, I know you guys love to read. but how do you learn? what are the process you take?

No one process springs to mind, but reading is a visual method of learning, and that is the key to learning for this INFJ. When my curiosity gets all fired up, I can visually scan and absorb vast amounts of information (words, images, diagrams, maps, charts, symbols, photographs etc) at great speed, but usually staying above the teeny-tiny details in search of the essential principles or overall gist of a new topic. Following a train of associations wherever it leads me without any expectations of where I will end up. Very fast, very exhilarating, but every so often something will catch my attention and the brakes will come on with a loud screeching sound. May even have to backtrack a little to find the info that attracted me. At this point I will typically dive down into it and devour everything there is to see down to the smallest detail, or bookmark the information for later study if I lack the time to do it justice.

INXJ, are you comfortable being blunt and straightforward?

Not usually, no. Tact and diplomacy are my weapons of choice, but I can be blunt and straightforward in two types of situations. One is when I have a high level of rapport and trust with another person, and can tell that a direct approach is called for. The other is less healthy, and happens when I realise I’m being verbally attacked in an attempt to bully or intimidate or even humilate me in public. There is a certain point when I realise that diplomacy and conciliation is not what the other party is seeking, at which point I see red and unleash a devastating verbal assault with no holding back. I detest being cornered like that since it can take me days to recover my normal equilibrium and because my fiery temper is unpredictable and has gotten me into serious trouble in the past (like screaming abuse at schoolyard thugs when I’m outnumbered and cornered!), but there have been a few occasions in my adult life when it was exactly what was required to show that a preference for Fe does not equate to being weak and timid!

INXJ, do you honestly but secretly think you’re better than everyone?

No, usually the opposite if I’m truly honest, since why else am I constantly trying to be a better person? INXJ’s are undervalued and poorly understood by modern Western society, and our natural perceptiveness means that we can’t ignore the fact that we are generally perceived as quirky, eccentric or just plain weird even when we try very hard to play by society’s rules. Can’t help but be affected by that to some degree, even when I pretend not to care.

INXJ, what do you like about history?

What’s not to like? Other than tedious high school “history” lessons that suck all the joy from the subject, of course. Human history alone is so much more than a dry list of dates and factoids, it is the story of how we came to be where we are are now, both individually and collectively. The mythology of a strange mammal blessed and cursed with a degree of consciousness and self-awareness and the ability to reflect on the past and imagine the future. The development of language allowed the coming together of isolated individuals and small tribes to form large social communities, which in turn allowed us to hone and specialise our talents and skills and diversify into discrete personality types. The subsequent development of agriculture leading ultimately to the rise of civilisations and the first city-states. Conflicts grew in scale alongside culture, and the city-states went to war with each other. The victors became the first empires, and the riches of conquest enabled the construction of grandiose monuments to celebrate their glory, and kick-started the technological and cultural arms-race that ultimately led to the wonders of the modern world, but may yet cost us everything if we destroy our planet in our hubris and inflated sense of self-entitlement.

That sort of thing…

INXJ, why do you like ancient stuff?

See previous answer. Plus many ancient sites or objects contain the subtle energies of the people who created them and lived with them and worshipped or venerated or studied or attempted to destroy them. For this reason, it is necessary to physically visit ancient ruins/monuments/sacred places to get a personal feeling for what they represent, or take the trouble to visit museums and art galleries to see and wonder at the creations of our ancestors.

My break-time is over for now, so I will address the remaining questions later.

The emergence of types. Why 16 for MBTI? Why anything?

INXJ, on the scale from 1-10, how much do you worry about what you say will affect them emotionally? (1 being not at all, 10 being 100% certainly)

It doesn’t keep me up at night but during conversations I do tailor what I say to prevent hurting other’s feelings to the maximum extent possible. It just leads to an easier life, with less to deal with. This doesn’t hold with close friends, where there is an assumed understanding that everything besides maliciousness is okay. May make exceptions if the topic is something very important.

INXJ, there is something related to Ni and old language.
or just in literary art in general. why do you guys care so much about language?

Language is meaning. Meaning is reality. Inflaming the imaginations of people, convincing people etc, is a sorcerous art.

INXJ, I know you guys love to read. but how do you learn? what are the process you take?

Just read I guess. Later I may revisit key elements of something I read. No process to identify these. Rare for me to read it all the way through again, but it happens. Reading is more like eating and drinking to me than some activity with multiple paths to it. You put it in your mouth, chew and swallow.

INXJ, are you comfortable being blunt and straightforward?

I may worry before I am that way, but once I am there’s no fear. Absolutely comfortable, feel natural.

INXJ, do you honestly but secretly think you’re better than everyone?

Better is a very loaded word. I would have to say no, but I do know what you mean. I do think I’m something more than other people. There’s an axis of something, and I occupy a higher position on it, whatever it is.

INXJ, what do you like about history?

The mindset of people from the past. It’s something totally different, they saw a world which was meaningful, in some ways where meaning was primary. We are rapidly becoming unable to think like most of humanity thought. I find the way they thought to lead to better lives than the way we think.

INXJ, why do you like ancient stuff?

See above plus they carry a lot of weight of meaning. It’s heavy shit.

INXJ, do you like people?

I like people, I don’t like the experience of people but ultimately I have a much higher opinion of people than they seem to think I do.

INXJ, how often are your intuition wrong?

Intuition cannot be wrong. It’s common to be wrong about what you perceive I suppose. There are lots of intuitions I had about things that have worked themselves out into different ways that I see the world, ways that have evolved as I’ve grown.

INXJ, how much do you care about looking good physically?

I wouldn’t want to stand out for not looking good, that’s about it.

INXJ, what turns you on? a warm cantaloupe? haha jk but seriously. what turns you on?

Nothing really really turns me on.

INXJ, what are some traits that you look for in an ideal mate?

Female, fertile, valuing tradition but intelligent and able to see past common things.

INXJ, what do you consider ‘stupid?’

When someone knows something but forces themselves for dishonest reasons (which they may or may not perceive) to deny it.

INXJ, on the scale from 1-10 how much do you give compliments? (1=none. 10= very often)

3

INXJ, how much do you respect authority?

I have great respect for the principle of authority, the position is more important than the person though.

INXJ, what holds you back from speaking your mind?

I know where I’ll be appreciated for being who I am.

#9

thank you for your contribution fallot!

#10

INXJ, on the scale from 1-10, how much do you worry about what you say will affect them emotionally? (1 being not at all, 10 being 100% certainly)

It’s a huge pain in the ass to have people blithering about with hurt feelings, and it’s generally not tactical to do so. I’ll say 7.

INXJ, there is something related to Ni and old language. or just in literary art in general. why do you guys care so much about language?

I’m mostly just still here because Blake and some others on board are good writers. I understand MBTI well enough now and feel like I’m watching it get flogged to death with Ti on here. I’m just doing this because I like writing sentences on gloomy days and blocked on serious writing.

INXJ, I know you guys love to read. but how do you learn? what are the process you take?

I read freakishly fast and in coursework usually read far ahead to understand concepts then backtrack to understand details.

INXJ, are you comfortable being blunt and straightforward?

skip

INXJ, do you honestly but secretly think you’re better than everyone?

Better at being me, otherwise, hell no. Not a single person out there I can’t learn from.

INXJ, what do you like about history?

I want to understand how to be human. There’s lots of epic ways to screw it up and a few lights strung here and there.

INXJ, why do you like ancient stuff?

I don’t just feel like I’m in the wrong time; I feel prehistoric. I want to learn from birds and stars and dance and laugh by the fireside. Stuff about finding your tribe didn’t resonate at all; mine is long gone if they ever existed at all. I realize there’s irony that I’m writing this on a computer; I may go off grid at some point.

INXJ, do you like people?

I love people, unless my people to alone time ratio gets screwed up, then people annoy the hell out of me.

INXJ, how often is your intuition wrong?

It’s more like a guidance system, continually subject to recalibration, rarely wrong altogether.

INXJ, how much do you care about looking good physically?

I rarely look sloppy, but seldom make an effort to stand out.

INXJ, what turns you on? a warm cantaloupe? haha jk but seriously. what turns you on?

Picking sun-warm strawberries, thunderstorms, slow smiles and touches, lazy days after chores done, baroque music, competence.

INXJ, what are some traits that you look for in an ideal mate?

Competence, not emotionally needy, not sedentary, able to hold a conversation, someone who gets it.

INXJ, what do you consider ‘stupid?’

self-sabotaging behavior

INXJ, on the scale from 1-10 how much do you give compliments? (1=none. 10= very often)

Oh, yeah
@supernokturnal, this is a great questionnaire; it was really kind of you to make it and to try to help people understand their type. You’re like a breath of fresh air on the board, and I’m glad you came back.
checks off to-do list
Eh,5, I try to remember to express gratitude and help people feel empowered, but I forget a lot.

INXJ, how much do you respect authority?

I show respect for authority and try to follow the rules unless there is a good reason not to do so, for example, if I don’t want to.

INXJ, what holds you back from speaking your mind?

A poorly designed weirdness filter.

#11

Welcome, @fallot. Hope you post more. Do you have a strong opinion what your X is, or are you answering as an exercise so they can help you figure it out?

#12

@Ankh and @supernokturnal

Alright, alright…I put it back up!

Thanks for the encouragement.

#13

I’m an INTJ, no ambiguity there for me. Both of my parents are INFJ, and I’m enjoying reading other people’s answers and comparing them to each in turn.

#14

Not sure what this quiz does, but I’ll try to answer it.

INXJ, on the scale from 1-10, how much do you worry about what you say will affect them emotionally? (1 being not at all, 10 being 100% certainly)

7

INXJ, there is something related to Ni and old language. or just in literary art in general. why do you guys care so much about language?

Language manipulates reality and people. And it’s interesting to see how many languages have their roots quite literally in Indo-Aryan.

INXJ, I know you guys love to read. but how do you learn? what are the process you take?

Scatter and collect.

INXJ, are you comfortable being blunt and straightforward?

Yes.

INXJ, do you honestly but secretly think you’re better than everyone?

Yes.

INXJ, what do you like about history?

Everything about it. But mostly the politics.

INXJ, why do you like ancient stuff?

Natural interest. Can’t rationalise it.

INXJ, do you like people?

Some of them. I enjoy some of them.

INXJ, how often are your intuition wrong?

Intuition IS NEVER wrong, but trust and good faith often is.

INXJ, how much do you care about looking good physically?

I’m good looking so I don’t need to care as much as I should.

INXJ, what turns you on? a warm cantaloupe? haha jk but seriously. what turns you on?

INFJs.

INXJ, what are some traits that you look for in an ideal mate?

Myself.

INXJ, what do you consider ‘stupid?’

Sensors.

INXJ, on the scale from 1-10 how much do you give compliments? (1=none. 10= very often)

1

INXJ, how much do you respect authority?

Authority is very important.

INXJ, what holds you back from speaking your mind?

The consequences.

#15

INXJ, do you like people?

Very much, except when I’m tired or frazzled and need to enter hermit mode.

INXJ, how often are your intuition wrong?

Can’t give you an exact figure as I’ve never counted this. Don’t even know if I could since there are so many. Here’s the thing about having dominant Ni: when it is working as nature intended, our psyches are subjected to a never-ending stream of intuitions, the majority of which are small and mundane. And this is so normal for us that most young INXJs would describe them as being “thoughts” and not even consider them to be unusual; that is until we begin to discover that most of the other kids don’t think like we do. Later, if we are fortunate and are able to develop Ni to a more sophisticated level, the true scope and sublety of its insights can be accessed. For example, a prophetic intuition will not just be about the content, it will also tell me how likely it is to occur. At that level, my intuitions are very accurate indeed.

INXJ, how much do you care about looking good physically?

More than I let on, but a lot less than when I was young and looking for a man… :sunglasses:

INXJ, what turns you on? a warm cantaloupe? haha jk but seriously. what turns you on?

Not warm fruit or vegetables or whatever the fuck a cantaloupe is! :tangerine::cucumber::potato::hot_pepper::fire:
(Looked it up - it’s a type of melon so a big no! And guess what? The internet is jam-packed with cantaloupe trivia. Who the fuck has the time or inclination to waste their lives posting about cantaloupes? Or reading about them? Argghh!!! Must. Stop. Thinking. About. Cantaloupes…)

INXJ, what are some traits that you look for in an ideal mate?

Intelligence, compassion, imagination, self-confidence, good sense of humour, extraversion (but not too much!) and a certain worldliness to compensate for my lack of the same quality.

INXJ, what do you consider ‘stupid?’

Myself when trying to manage seemingly straightforward Sensing-based matters, such as not tripping over my own clumsy feet. Prejudice, ignorance and narrow-mindedness. Elitism and snobbery and bullying in all its forms.

INXJ, on the scale from 1-10 how much do you give compliments? (1=none. 10= very often)

A lot, 7 to 10.

INXJ, how much do you respect authority?

Not very much as a rule, though I’m too well behaved to show it. Leadership has to be earned through acting with integrity and compassion to gain my respect, but once earned I will be very loyal and supportive.

INXJ, what holds you back from speaking your mind?

Politeness, fear of being misunderstood, or simply not having the words to adequately express complex intuitions and emotions.

please explain!

INXJ, on the scale from 1-10, how much do you worry about what you say will affect them emotionally? (1 being not at all, 10 being 100% certainly)
Depends on who. Overall I’d say 7 though.

INXJ, there is something related to Ni and old language.
or just in literary art in general. why do you guys care so much about language?
I may be one of the few infj’s that is not concerned with language, at least consciously. If anything I see language as more of a fluid way of communicating. I don’t take the rules of language seriously. The intention behind the words are what I latch on to. However, I sometimes get stuck using specific words for weeks. I’d have to think about this question more. I like this question though.

INXJ, I know you guys love to read. but how do you learn? what are the process you take?
I can’t come up with a better response for my own learning style than this:

INXJ, are you comfortable being blunt and straightforward?
In a sneaky way, I love telling it like it is using Fe. Fi lash outs I usually regret.

INXJ, do you honestly but secretly think you’re better than everyone?
I have more random insight than most people. I probably act on a fourth of my insight and only half of that is conscious action. In a cultural sense, I would say that what constitutes as “better than” is the effective impact that derives from what you create and dismantle, wether it’s a tangible outcome or a change in the mind sets of other people. So I would say I’m better than average when it comes to comparing myself to most in my local surroundings and average when it comes to a global scale. However, when I’m in an empowering mood while visiting the external world I forget all of this and tend to think I’m superior in that moment.

I’ll finish up after work. This helps put my thoughts into perspective. Thanks Super!

46 posts were split to a new topic: Sensors cf Intuitors - what does intelligence and access to knowledge mean for each?

Hi @liminal!

You sound like an INFP based on your responses here, but I could be wrong. Thanks for taking the courage to share a little bit about you!

@RumDawg
got questions for you. are you racist? and prejudice towards certain group of people as well? besides sensors.

do you believe in ethnic and color hierarchy as well?

do you agree with this guy?

it’s mentioned by @geneva on the other thread

and. do you think INFJ can be bought with money?

also, do you have NPD?

do you have friends in real life?

what do you do when you hang out with them?

i usually don’t ask these blunt questions but since you feel comfortable being one :]
